Kinesiology Taping

Kinesiology Taping

At CS Mind and Body, we offer Kinesiology Taping as a supportive treatment designed to assist with injury recovery, pain relief and performance enhancement. Whether you’re managing an injury, recovering from a strain or simply want to improve your athletic performance, Kinesiology Taping is an effective, non-invasive solution.
You might have heard of popular brands like RockTape or K-Tape—these are some of the most well-known options that we use to help you get the best results.

What is Kenesiology Taping?

Kinesiology Taping involves applying an elastic, adhesive tape to the skin in specific patterns. This tape is designed to mimic the skin’s elasticity, allowing it to support muscles and joints while maintaining a full range of motion. Unlike traditional rigid tapes, Kinesiology Tape moves with your body and is comfortable for daily use, even during physical activity.

The tape is strategically placed to help alleviate pain, reduce swelling, improve circulation and provide additional support to muscles and joints. It’s commonly used by athletes but is also beneficial for anyone who wants to manage pain, recover from injury or enhance their movement.

Benefits of Kenesiology Taping?

Kinesiology Taping offers a range of benefits, including:

  • Pain relief: By lifting the skin slightly, the tape helps reduce pressure on pain receptors, providing relief from muscle and joint discomfort.
  • Reduced inflammation: Kinesiology tape helps improve circulation and lymphatic drainage, which can reduce swelling and promote faster healing.
  • Improved joint and muscle support: The tape provides gentle support without restricting movement, allowing you to stay active while healing.
  • Enhanced performance: Kinesiology Taping can improve posture, support muscle function, and enhance overall performance by providing stability during physical activity.
  • Faster recovery: By promoting better circulation and reducing muscle fatigue, Kinesiology Taping can speed up recovery after workouts or injuries.

Whether you’re dealing with chronic pain, recovering from an injury or looking to boost your athletic performance, Kinesiology Taping is a helpful tool in your wellness journey.

What conditions can Kenesiology Taping be used for?

Kinesiology Taping can be used to address a variety of conditions, including:

  • Muscle strains and sprains.
  • Tendonitis and tendinopathies.
  • Joint pain or instability.
  • Chronic pain conditions (e.g., back pain, neck pain).
  • Sports injuries (e.g., knee pain, shoulder pain, tennis elbow).
  • Postural imbalances or support.
  • Swelling and oedema.
  • Rehabilitation and recovery after surgery.

Whether it’s to prevent injury, support recovery, or improve movement efficiency, Kinesiology Taping can be an effective addition to your treatment plan.

What to Expect During Your Session

Your session will begin with a brief consultation to discuss your symptoms, goals and the specific areas you’d like treated. Once we’ve identified the problem areas, we’ll apply the tape in a series of specific patterns designed to provide support, improve circulation or reduce pain.

Some clients might have Kinesiology Taping applied after a sports massage treatment for a comprehensive recovery approach. However, if you only need the taping, we also offer 20-minute appointments dedicated to applying the tape for those who want a quick, effective solution.

The application process is quick, non-invasive, and comfortable. You can expect the tape to stay on for several days, and you’ll be able to shower and continue with your daily activities without worry. The tape’s elasticity and light adhesive ensure that it moves with you, providing support throughout the day.

How long does the tape stay on?

The tape is designed to be worn for 3-5 days, depending on your activity level and the area being taped. It is water-resistant, so you can shower and engage in activities like swimming or working out without the tape peeling off.

If the tape starts to peel at the edges or irritates your skin, we recommend removing it gently and avoiding re-application in that area for a few days.

Is the Tape safe?

Yes! Kinesiology Taping is a safe, non-invasive treatment. The tape is made of breathable material, and the adhesive is designed to be skin-friendly. However, some people may experience mild irritation or an allergic reaction to the adhesive. If this occurs, simply remove the tape and consult with your practitioner.
